In Memoriam Julius Schachter

Renowned chlamydia researcher Dr. Julius Schachter passed away on December 20 due to complications from COVID-19. For many years, Julie, as he was known to colleagues and friends, was a leader in the STI world beyond the laboratory. Among many accolades, he received the prestigious Distinguished Career Award from the American Sexually Transmitted Diseases Association in 1990. for 25 years he led the journal Sexually Transmitted Diseases as its Editor in Chief. At the occasion of his retirement from this position in January 2015, he wrote an article on his experiences. It is available in Resources.
