At the 2014 STD Prevention
Conference in Atlanta, we spoke with Dr. Bill Darrow. Dr. Darrow
is a Professor of Public Health at Florida International University in Miami
Florida. Before joining FIU, he worked at the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention for 31 years and was the Chief of the Behavioral and
Prevention Research Branch in the Division of STD/HIV Prevention until 1994.
During that time, he was the first to engage an illustrious group of
behavioral scientists in the development of science-based behavioral
interventions, including the AIDS Community Demonstration Projects and Project
RESPECT. These and other behavioral intervention programs formed the
cornerstone of HIV and STD Prevention Programs for many years.
