Frequently Asked Questions on How to Use STDPO |
|
| For the benefit of members who have joined us during the past 12 months
we we will start this week with reviewing some of the basics of using
STDPO. We often receive requests from both members and non-members to
focus on a specific topic or share some important information on their
behalf. While we are eager to assist with these requests, the site was
designed to be a two-way street in which members can both download
resources as well as upload their own information. The easiest way to do
the latter is to log in to the site, go to "My Blog" and create a new
blog. The format for blogs are pretty flexible and allow the inclusion
of URL links. A mini-blog can be entered on your home page (go to "My
Home"). To upload files, such as PDF, Word files, PowerPoints, or
audio/video files, go to "Resources" at the top of the home page and
click the "Upload a Resource" tab. To the extent possible, we will highlight new content in our weekly newsletter which will draw more attention to your contributions. To upload content, however, whether it is blogs or resources, you have to be signed in to the site. This leads me to another frequently asked question: why do members need to sign in every time they access STDPO? First off, you don't need to sign in when downloading resources. However, since site content is not censored up front, requiring a member to sign in when uploading reduces the potential for abuse and the posting of inappropriate content. Finally, there is an easy way to circumvent this issue: by allowing cookies in your browser, your computer can remember your login and password that will automatically show up when you click inside the empty login window (where it says "email") on the STDPO home page.
