New on STDPO: The Real World of STD Prevention

To start 2013 on an exciting note, we are pleased to announce The Real World of STD Prevention, a new feature simultaneously published in the journal Sexually Transmitted Diseases and posted on STDPO.

The Real World of STD Prevention is a collaborative effort between the journal and STD Prevention Online that identifies articles that address the science-program interface and thus are of specific interest to STD clinical and prevention practitioners including clinicians, disease intervention specialists, prevention workers, program administrators and those involved with training the STD prevention workforce.

By publishing these manuscripts free of charge, we aim to attract a readership that has not been traditionally reached by the journal.  However, we do encourage our membership to become members of ASTDA to receive a subscription of the journal.  At $100 for physicians and $50 for non-physicians per year, this is a real deal!

The first installment of the Real World of STD Prevention features a number of articles addressing the pros and cons of streamlining STD clinic operations by offering testing-only "express" visits.

Here’s the line-up with links to the articles:

New in the Journal: “The Real World of STD Prevention”  [Editorial]

The Pros and Cons of the Express Visit Option [Editorial]

Testing-Only” Visits: An Assessment of Missed Diagnoses in Clients Attending Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinics

Client Feedback and Satisfaction With an Express Sexually Transmissible Infection Screening Service at an Inner-City Sexual Health Center

New Xpress Sexually Transmissible Infection Screening Clinic Improves Patient Journey and Clinic Capacity at a Large Sexual Health Clinic

Modernizing Operations to Improve Efficiency and Refine the Role and Mission of Sexually Transmitted Infection Clinics [Ediorial]

Together with the editors of Sexually Transmitted Diseases, we hope that this new feature will be of interest to our membership.  Feedback and ideas for future articles are welcome.
